Ousama Ranking Season 2 release dates predictions: Likely to renew?
Aniplex, Kadokawa and WIT Studio have not confirmed the Ranking of Kings Season 2 release dates as of the last update. The Ranking of Kings sequel has not been officially announced.
This article will be updated once the news has been confirmed.
It’s possible to speculate as to when or if Ousama Ranking Season 2 will be released in the future.
The Ranking of Kings has received overwhelmingly positive reviews. The story of a boy who is deaf and tries to be the greatest king in the world is uplifting.
However, it also touches on difficult topics such as murder, genocide, demon-pacts, ritualistic child sacrifice, and other hard subjects. The children’s picture-book art style is a charming contrast to the more serious material that drives the emotional drama that forms the heart of the story.
Despite the heartwarming nature of anime, the industry is driven primarily by hard numbers such as streaming revenue and the impact manga sales have on it. FUNimation does not give any indication of the popularity or appeal of its exclusive titles.
WIT Studio animated the anime’s debut season. However, anime fans dismissed the show as a dark horse and dismissed it as merely a TV series. RoK quickly became the rising fencer hero as word spread.
The manga’s circulation reached more than 1.3 million copies before the anime premiered. The manga had 1.5 million copies of circulation by mid-November thanks to the anime. This boost was not enough to place the manga in Oricon Top 30 within that time period.
It seems probable that Ranking of Kings will be renewed by the anime production committee for a second season, based on its growing popularity among anime fans. The main problem was the lack of material to make a continuation after the anime’s original season ended in March 2022.
Furthermore, many anime projects are planned years ahead. WIT Studio’s availability is not a concern as they have many projects lined up for the future. Because they are a small studio, they cannot take on too many projects simultaneously.
It’s expected that Ranking of Kings 2 will be delayed for several years. There should be enough manga chapters to create a second season by 2023-2024. However, it is possible that the anime production committee may wait until the second manga story arc has been completed.

The Ranking of Kings manga creator began at 41 years old
The anime TV series is based on Sousuke Tooka’s Ranking of Kings manga. Officially, Ousama Ranking is sometimes spelled Osama Ranking.
Since May 2017, the Manga Hack website has been self-published. Kadokawa’s Enterbrain published the physical volumes in February 2019. As of December 10, 2021, the manga series had reached Ranking of Kings Volume 12.
Officially, the manga is divided into multiple story arcs. Ranking of Kings Part 2 began with Chapter 156, May 8, 2021. Volume 12 should contain Part 1.
On an irregular basis, new chapters are published. The web manga was at Chapter 180 when Volume 12 came out. The web manga was still at Chapter 192 when Ousama Ranking Episode 23 came out, the finale of the first season.
BookLive Co., Ld, North American publisher, announced a official Ranking of Kings English manga translation in February 2022. On February 25, 2022, the first four volumes of the Ranking of Kings manga were made available digitally as an eBook. Volume 5 was published on March 4, 2022.
The original English translation of the official English translation was so poor that there were allegedly spelling mistakes. The original official English translation was accused of plagiarism because 42 percent of its first three chapters were identical to unofficial scanlations.
Booklive had to announce that sales of the official English translation would be suspended on March 31, 2022 because of this situation. The ranking of Kings was “ruined” by Booklive and Dragon Digital Japan Co., Ltd.
The eBook publisher translated the English volumes into English and distributed them. Customers who have purchased the English editions of any seven volumes will be able download the retranslated version for free.
There are also fan translation projects in English. Home Hero Scans has made it clear that they will not be continuing work on Part 1 of the manga. Their plan is to continue working on Part 2 until the anime’s last episode airs. The translation group announced on March 26, 2021 that they would publish their first chapters on a new Ranking of Kings Part 2 page once they were finished. This was apparently a delay as the original plan was to release chapters that day.
Tooka’s unique fact is that he began his manga career as a corporate dropout at 41. Tooka’s parents believe he is a salaryman. He doesn’t tell his parents because he fears they will worry about him if they discover he draws manga for a living.
“I was reluctant to leave my job at 41. It is true, however, that I have had an easygoing lifestyle since I am single and don’t have anyone to care for,” Tooka stated in an interview with Anime Network. “I didn’t like my life and felt anxious about the future. I knew that I would eventually become a manga artist.
He had previously submitted his work for a picture book contest. Kage was originally designed as a character for the picture book. Tooka won a prize, but his career as an artist in picture books never took off.
He also talked about how his work challenges fairytale stereotypes. However, his answer revealed how Tooka might decide to end the Ranking of Kings manga’s conclusion.
“I am a sensitive-hearted person. I enjoy stories with happy endings. He said that he would like to make everybody happy. “But I cannot do that for the poor guys. It’s as easy as that.
Bojji’s story seems to be just beginning, as Tooka created the second story arc only in 2021.

Ousama Ranking manga is compared to anime
Sometimes the original author of a book or manga series will either be directly involved in the scriptwriting process, or at least give feedback and answer questions. Tooka said that he did not have any input in the anime, but he is grateful to WIT Studio for their great work.
Manga readers are accustomed to anime adaptations staying true to the source material. Many anime studios adapt each scene panel by panel. WIT Studio decided to change the order of details to give the story a sense of mystery.
The manga explained that Bojji had a weak body and hearing impairment because King Bosse, his father, made a deal to get him a devil. The manga did not reveal the motivations of Bosse for making this decision.
The sense of mystery that arose from the corps of the dead King was maintained all the way to Episode 8. King Bosse Flashback Episode included an additional chapter from Volume 1.
The Chapter 13.5 bonus chapter was titled this way. It added another layer to Bosse’s motivations to sell his firstborn’s life force to Satan. The web manga originally showed Bosse as completely selfish and indifferent. This retroactive modification to the printed edition prepared readers for a more nuanced character.
The moment that Domas, the swordmaster, betrayed Bojji was also a shocking surprise to anime viewers. Domas’ assassination attempt is clearly foreshadowed in the manga by his cryptic internal monologues that lead up to the Gates of Hell. Domas’ maniacal laughter was a nice touch, as it spoke to his inner turmoil.
The anime added a lot of anime original scenes and flashbacks to make the story flow more smoothly. The anime used an original scene in which Bojji tried to escape from his castle room to link to the Queen Hiling flashback.
This flashback is described in the manga as a result of Bojji being healed by the Queen following his duel against Prince Daida. Also, the anime didn’t reveal who was healing Bojji initially. This misdirection led audiences to mistakenly reduce Hiling to being an evil stepmother trope until their hidden depths were revealed.
Some anime revealed details that were previously hidden, thereby rearranging the timeline. Episode 1 covered Episode 5 and pulled elements from Episode 2 (Kage’s encounter with the snake tamer Bebin). Episode 2 also brought forward Kage’s backstory to show that Bojji is the last member of the shadow clan.
Some scenes were made more confusing by the anime changing the story. Episode 2 of anime didn’t show King Bosse ever evading an attack. This better explained why everyone thought Bojji was unkingly or dishonorable. Bosse also paid a higher life expectancy as part of his bargain with the devil, explaining why he died so young.
The anime made Apeas’ backstory too long. Apeas is described as a skilled spearman but timid in combat. He became more confident after he was made Spear of King. Apeas suffered mysterious injuries that could not be inflicted on a human. It turned out that Apeas was constantly challenging a griffin and eventually killed it. He presented the trophy to his king.
The anime adaptation did not hesitate to depict bloodshed. Bojji was actually covered in the blood of his mother. WIT Studio animated the backstory for the orc-like gigantes Gigan. They wisely changed the child torture scene in Volume 9: Chapter 112 so that the poor soul was not tied to the cross but rather than literally being crucified with its arms down.
It was obvious, in retrospect that certain scenes and dialogues would be cut. WIT Studio had to adjust the pace to make the manga stop well, even though it had two courses to work with.
Ranking of Kings Episode 12 (Ranking of Kings part 2): The anime was adapted from manga Volume 6.
It is predicted that Ousama Ranking Episode 23 will be the finale of the first season. This episode corresponds to manga volume 12: Chapter 55.
Because it effectively ends the King Bosse/Miranjo storyarc, the ending of the first storyarc is a natural stop point for anime. It also leaves no relevant plot thread threads unfinished. There are still many questions about the role of the gods in ranking kings, and why first-ranked kings go insane. The story in Ousama Ranking Part 2 should continue in the second season.
Unfortunately, there are not enough manga chapters to make even a single-cour Ranking of Kings season 2. Averaging 6.7 chapters per episode, the first season had 230 chapters. This means that a second season will require at least 230 chapters. It was noted that there should be sufficient source material by 2023-2024, but it is not known how many chapters Part 2 of manga will contain.
English-only manga fans who want to catch up on the anime can read Chapter 156, translated by Home Hero Scans. Although an official English translation of the manga has been released, it will likely take until 2022 before the published volumes catch up.
