As we inch closer to the release of season four of The God Only Knows, it seems like nothing is going to keep us from anticipation. We know that the show will be released in 2019, but what about when? According to a recent report, production on season four is set to begin in early 2018. This means that we could potentially see the show released in late 2017 or early 2018. So what does this mean for fans? Well, it means that there is a good chance that we will see the show released in either late 2017 or early 2018. However, as always, we can only wait and see!

It is also known as Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai (Japan) and is an anime adaptation from the manga of that name written by Tamiki Wakaki. In April 2008, it began serialization in Weekly Shounen Sun. Tamaki Wakaki published 26 volumes since then, except for two light novels by Mamizu Arisawa.

Manglobe produced three anime adaptations of the series. The premiere season was announced in April 2010. It aired from October 6 through December 22, 2010. The second season aired from October 6 to December 22, 2010. A third season aired from July 8 through September 23, 2013. Manglobe also released several OVAs between 2010 and 2013.

It was a popular series back then, and the manga and merchandise were sold like hotcakes. The anime adaptations received so many positive reviews and it was able to be shown three times. It is not enough to make The World God Only Knows Season 4. Or, the charming romantic-comedy won’t see its fourth season. This is all we know about the series.

Is there a Season 4 of The World God Only Knows?

The chance of having The World God Only Knows Season 4 in your life is very slim. Here are some reasons.

Of course, the first is the source material. The manga was cancelled in 2014. Tamiki Wakaki is now working on a new series. The anime adaptation is often used to promote manga. There is no manga to promote, so there is no reason for The World God Only Knows Season 4.

Manglobe, the studio that produced the anime adaptation is the second reason. Unfortunately, Manglobe filed for bankruptcy in 2015. Since then, it has been defunct. Manglobe had previously managed The World God Only Knows: Goddesses, the third season. The World God Only knows Season 4 is not available due to closed studio animation.

There is no The World God Only Knows Season 4 with eight years of gap, no manga to promote and no studio to produce.

The World God Only Knows Season 4 Release Date

There has been no official announcement regarding The World God Only Knows Season 4. It is not surprising, considering Manglobe has been shut down. It also celebrated its tenth anniversary since the beginning of the series. It is possible, however.

Manglobe was somewhat revived in 2015 as Geno Studio. Twin Engine, the production company that Kouji Yamamoto founded in Noitamina, is now the new studio. Geno Studio’s staff mainly came from Manglobe. Tamaki Wakaki made friends with Manglobe staff and we may see The World God Only Knows Season 4!

Geno Studio may not make it. We can only hope that another studio will be brave enough to dig the series’ grave. As we have seen many cases of the closing down an anime studio, it could also apply to The World God Only Knows Season 4.
