Gran saw Lyria, a girl, and Katalina, an Imperial Officer. They are fleeing from the Empire which wants to control the world with its advanced military technology.
Gran saves the two of them, but he is fatally injured in the process. Lyria saves Gran by joining her soul to him before he dies.
Lyria summons a powerful and massive creature, the Proto-Bahamut. This destroys the Empire forces.
Lyria and Gran, Vrym and Katalina join forces to travel to Estalucia, an island that is part of the Empire, to escape the Empire, and to find out more about Gran’s mysterious father. In addition, As they meet new friends and become more involved in a sinister plot, the anime follows their adventures.
