Koji Koda, MHA (born October 1, 1961) is the current Minister of Health in the Japanese government. He has been in office since December 12, 2013. Koda was born in 1961 in the city of Kobe, Japan. He graduated from Kobe University with a degree in business administration. After working as a business executive for several years, he became a public servant and served as Mayor of Kobe from 2006 to 2013. In December 2013, Koda was elected to succeed Shinzo Abe as Prime Minister of Japan. As Prime Minister, he made significant changes to the country’s health care system and announced plans to reduce the number of people who die from preventable causes by 2030. Koda is a member of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). He has been married to his wife since 1984 and they have two children.
